Hmm. Well, I'm playing the game right now. I agree about Cyberspace, it can be uh....wonky if you don't know how to navigate it properly. I got the hang of it after a few tries though and trying to beat my time has been fun.
I more or less agree with everything you said, but I dunno I'm enjoying it...or at least I didn't have as miserable of a time as you seemingly did. I guess I just have low standards :V
If this was 2019, I'd probably write you off as a hater who doesn't like anything but I've grown past that. A lot of fans are excited because it feels like a return to the Sonic they loved and grew up with so you're probably gonna be in the minority. I'll have to wait for when I play it myself.
I grew up with Sonic back when I first got Mega Collection as a kid, my first exposure to his games were the earliest ones. I want to see this character succeed, I want Sonic to be the potential I see in it, but it's a losing battle and naturally I have difficulty reconciling with that fact. I've got no financial stake in the game here, and I have nothing except a want for better things.
Read through this review, of course, going off what little I played, I disagree with some of the things you said here, but I'll be sure to keep these critiques in mind when I play it myself, as I haven't gotten as far as you have in the game
Couldn't have agreed more, these are pretty much my thoughts on the game as I've seen and heard. It feels like a weird drone strike on this series that it didn't really need after the very bland and not very well received recent entries of the series. I cannot believe this was put out to the public, I've had my doubts ever since the first gameplay snippet was shown of this game and even the CGI teaser in the sonic direct too. More fun games have come out in 5 years and even less, as you've said here. Very genuine review, I'm curious to see more!
Actually it's not like the Kocos die when they fall in love.
As the later parts of the game explain, the Kocos are small statues once used as like jewerly by those aliens they call The Ancients. The ancients who died there became ghosts and could not be at rest because of their unfinished business, so they possessed the Kocos so they could eventually complete their last task. When Sonic and Amy reunited those Kocos, we get shown a flashback of the Two Ancient Lovers whom the ghosts those Kocos possessed used to be before they died, then after that, their unfinished business (which was reuniting with their lost lover) is finally complete, and they could finally leave this mortal coil.
Same goes with the other Koco missions in the game. The Koco Soldiers complete their last mission. The Koco Pilot completes his gun, and finally the ghosts possessing them get to depart into the next world.
Oh thank god people are actually starting to pick up on how bad this game is.. Thought I was living in a parallel universe with everyone hyped for Sonic Frontiers while I thought it looked like Sonic Forces but Open World. Only played this game on my Xbox One X because I won a giveaway.. other than that I'm not paying 60 dollars for this garbage when I was miserable by Ares Island. Good review
and the worst part is people will defend it even though it's literally just forces but again
everything about this game is exactly the same as forces in the trying to appeal to everyone but appeal to no one mindset. Oh but because the criticisms were checked off the list that means it's worth praising as some monolith from the heavens

What would be your ideal Sonic comeback?
takashi iizuka's immediate retirement with no pension
I second this.
